Best way to learn a new language? (CD's, DVD, etc)?

What is the best way to learn a new language? I am thinking in French would be the best choice for my career wise, but I love to learn another (like German) on the road. are CD's or DVD's good way learn to speak another language? Is there a particular individual brand can recommend?

I think the best way is to take some kind of a class that could being around others who are learning the language. It is very useful to have at least one person who is learning the language with you, because then you can study together and learn at their own pace. I am currently learning Italian and Spanish tapes in a class. For me it is very difficult to learn through tapes and just read the language, because it puts you in a real conversation. I have a choice of living in France or Belgium (the French) for about 4 months to learn french. I've always wanted to live in France, but now I'm learning about Belgium and it looks a bit like a jewel underestimated. I know they DO NOT want to live in Paris but I would not mind any other (French speaking) cities in either country. What would you suggest?
