Why are children whose native language is Spanish should take Spanish class?

Catholic school my daughter has a growing native Spanish-speaking population. Is not it a waste of time for these children sit through grade Spanish class at the school language, learn about the words of dogs and cats and such? Perhaps the school should switch to a foreign language so that all children are on the same page?

I teach Spanish at primary levels and can tell you little benefit to this ... 1) Often native Spanish speaking students in their struggle in other classes, is great for them to have a class you excel and others turn to them for leadership. 2) As taught "proper" grammar in English classes that native speakers of English make, also teach "proper" Spanish - Spanish Street nothing .. 3) Your experience gives all children a great resource ~ Who is the best conversation partner? Of course it is the native speaker! It would be similar to that only children who do not speak English native classes in English and not to offer English-speaking population.

Is it better to not speak French at all, that to speak with an American accent?

Travling to France for the first time. (Yes, more questions French for me) Is it more irritating to the French to hear an American speak their language imperfectly (even if it is close), or an American to speak English and I hope they understand? I'm trying to learn French before leaving, but I wonder if you only should try to use my knowledge to understand what I said instead of talking for myself. I'm afraid to try. As a rule, be more impressed if you try to speak French. Native English speakers are usually seen by the French as people who do not bother trying to learn a foreign language because they assume everyone speaks some English. This is seen as arrogance. So even if you stutter, stumble, doubts or obvious mistakes, trying to speak some French demonstrate its willingness to make an effort. And as you go there on business, odds are the people who are talking about is going to smile and say that is fine if you continue in English. They will think more highly of you for trying.
